The Importance of Fall Protection Training
Falls are the most common cause of death in construction and yet, they are also one of the most preventable. Fall protection training is one of the most important types of training you’ll ever go through when it comes to high-risk jobs. By providing your team with proper training, you can make sure they will be better acquainted with the fall protection equipment they’re using, making an on-site injury less likely.
What it Does
Fall protection training teaches your team how to safely climb or walk on high structures and navigate hazardous areas. It teaches your team about the selection and safe use of traditional fall protection, such as handrails and guardrails, fall restraint vs fall arrest, governing regulations, and safe equipment use. If an accident does happen, knowing how to handle it by following an established rescue plan in a calm and quick way is important and may save a life. When choosing a training provider, make sure you choose one certified by a trusted manufacturer of fall protection equipment. Look at the course length, which generally gives an idea of the level of depth. For any team members responsible for supervising; making safety decisions; designing, implementing, or using a rescue plan; or anyone who learns best hands-on, look for a course with active, practical climbing involved.
